What is the abdomen?
The area between the bottom of the rib cage down to the groin
What is an abortion ?
Termination of pregnancy
What is an abscess?
Collection of pus from an infection
What is adrenal insufficiency?
failure of the adrenal glands ( Addison’s disease )
What is amputation?
Severing of a body part
What is an anus?
A persons back passage
What is anxiety?
Persistent and excessive worrying about any aspects of daily life
What is an allergen ?
Something which triggers an allergy
What is Analgesia?
Pain relief
What is an aneurysm?
Localised widening of the aorta
What is the aorta ?
The main artery from the heart
What is assault?
An injury with intent to cause harm
What is aura?
A distinctive feeling or warning sign that a seizure is on its way
What is the back?
The area between the base of the neck and the bottom of the spine including the bottom
What is bipolar disorder ?
Also known as manic depression. The sufferer experiences severe mood swings. From high active ( manic) episodes and low very depressed periods.
What is a blunt injury?
One that does not involve a break in the skin or other body surface
What is blurred vision?
When things have a fuzzy appearance
what is breathlessness?
The feeling of having to work harder than normal to get air in and out of the lungs
What is the chest?
The area between the collar bones and bottom of rib cage
What is chronic?
A condition that persists over a long period of time. Symptoms often appear gradually, get worse despite treatment and change very slowly. Normally there is no change in the symptoms from day to day
What is cirrhosis?
Scarring of the liver
