- bilateral (both sides of the body) loss motor function and bilateral pain/temperature sensation
- relative sparing of prorprioception and vibratory sense below level of lesion
- autonomic nervous system dysfunction
- affected respiration

- loss of proprioception and vibratory senses below level of lesion

because posterior spinal cord carries mainly sensory information
