why the firs day of the somme went badly
A
- the first part failed, the germans hid in dugouts and survived. The survivors massacred the British who didn’t expect any resistance
- Even dough the first part of the plan didn’t work the plan wasn’t changed since Heigh did not have a plan B
- The barbed wire was not destroyed the shells simply made it a bigger mess wiving the Germans more time to shoot the British
