What is the function of the Vertebral Body?

- Primary Ossification Centre (bone devp.).
- Supports most of the body weight.
- Has an intervertebral disc (hyaline cartilage) between them.

What are the differences between the Atlas and Axis?
A
Atlas: Helps nod “yes”
- Vertebra C1
- Has no body or spinous processes.
Axis: Helps nod “no”
- Vertebra C2
- Has a knob (dens) which projects superiority from the body. Called the atlantoaxial joint.
