The Arm Flashcards
What are the muscles in the flexor compartment of the arm?
- Biceps brachii
- Brachialis
- Coracobrachialis
What are the origins and insertions of the Biceps brachii
ORIGINS= Long head- supraglenoid tubercle Short head- coracoid process INSERTIONS= radial tuberosity via the bicipital aponeurosis
What are the 3 functions of the Biceps brachii?
- Supination of the forearm
- Flexion at the elbow
- Flexion at the shoulder
What is the origin and insertion of the Brachialis?
ORIGIN=
medial and lateral surface of the humeral shaft
INSERTIONS=
ulna tuberosity
What is the function of the Brachiais?
Flexion at the elbow
What is the origin and insertion of the Coracobrachialis?
ORIGIN=
Coracoid process
INSERTIONS=
Medial side of the humeral shaft
What is the function of the Coracobrachialis?
Flexion at the shoulder and week adduction
What are the muscles in the extensor compartment of the arm?
Triceps brachii
What are the origins and insertions of the triceps brachii?
ORIGINS=
Long head- infraglenoid tubercle
Lateral head- humerus, superior to the radial groove
Medial head- humerus, inferior to the radial groove
INSERTIONS=
head converge into one tendon- olecranon of the ulna
What is the function of the triceps brachii?
Extension of the arm at the elbow
What nerve supplies the flexor compartment?
Musculocutaneous nerve
What nerve supplies the extensor compartment?
Radial nerve
What is the medial and lateral border of the cubital fossa?
Medial border- lateral border of the Pronator teres
Lateral border- medial border of the brachioradialis
What is the contents of the cubital fossa?
- Radial nerve
- Brachial artery
- Median nerve
- Biceps tendon
