Where is the liver situated?
The right hypochondrium, in close contact with the diaphragm
How many lobes are there- what are they?
4 Left Right- caudate (upper) -quadrate (lower) *Left and right lobe separated by falciform ligament
What are the different ducts associated with the gall bladder and pancreas?
Gall bladder- cystic duct, hepatic duct, common bile duct
Pancreas + common bile duct= hepatopancreatic ampulla of vater
What is the blood supply to the liver?
- Common hepatic artery
2. Hepatic portal vein
What is the blood supply to the spleen?
- Splenic artery
2. Splenic vein
What are the main branches of the coeliac trunk?
- Left gastric artery
- Splenic artery
- common hepatic arteries
What supplies the pancreas?
- Splenic artery (body and tail)
2. Gastroduodenal- superior pancreaticoduodenal (anterior and posterior branch)
What does the spleen do?
Blood filter- remove old red blood cells
What is the stomachs blood supply?
- Right gastric
- Left gastric
- Right gastroepiploic
- Left gastroepiploic
