Proclomation LIne
- protected native americans and drew a line preventing the colonists from colonising the land west of the appalachain mountains. MADE LAND SPECULATORS SUCH AS BENJAMIN FRANKLIN ANGRY
Sugar Act
- Regulated trade (by lowering tax( on sugar and mollasses and raise money to protect colonists from the french paying fron 10K troops. COLONISTS THOUGHT THIS WAS TO PREVENT EXPANSION INTO THE WEST AND PAY FOR FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR
Writs of assistance
Part of the sugar act 1764. allowed searches without warrents.
Currency Act
- Denunciated colonial currency in have favour of the standard gold. DESTROYED WEALTH
Quatering Act
- Forced colonissts to house and feed soilders and their horses. USED AS PROPGANDA AND TROOPS WERE PAID POORLY SO THEY TOOK LOCAL JOBS
Stamp Act
- Requiered a tax to be paid on paper products as well as dice and playing cards. Stamp Duties. STARTED “NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION” AND CAUSED UNIVERSAL IRRITATION
Declatory Act
- Replaced the Stamp Act. Tories wanted to demonstrate British Power so teh Declared that Britain could make laws for the colonies. Made in responce to Boycotts as a result of the stamp act.
The Townshend duties
1767-68. Charles Townshend, treasurer. added import tax and effectively brought back “writs of assistance”
Coercive Acts
(Intolerable acts) 1774. Lord North. Closed boston harbour, stopped unapporved sea trade. Suspended massachusetts assembly. Removed Thomas Hutchinson assembly. Put boston under military rule. MAKE COLONISTS PAY FOR THE LOST TEA.
Justice Act
(may 1774) People charge with murder would be sent to britain for trial. SEEN AS LICENCE FOR THE BRITISH TROOPS TO KILL
Quatering act reinforcement
(June 1774) allowed governers to take halls, barns and vaccant buildings for quatering.
Qubec Act
- Qubec beacme larger than the 13 colonies, gave rights to french catholics. Catholics were allowed to hold office and 10% of income went to catholic church. THREATEND PROTESENTS AND EMBEDDED PROCLOMATION ACT 1763
