The King at least only robs you once! This is important in a world where there are many agencies trying to rob you.

As bad as Absolutism can see, it was better than other places and people invading!

17th century in particular, and during the time of the reformation in the 16th century, Europe was unstable in the sense that everything change - so Europe thought they needed this.
(The pope, religious wars, kings and princes, etc.)

This search for security = Absolutism FTW!

Hobbes was a royalist - Rejected Charles’ perspectives (he couldn’t do whatever he wanted because “god made him King”)

He wrote the Leviathan which painted society as a monster with a sovereign power as it’s head (only way to reach civil society)
