Q

What is CNV? Where is it located? Is it motor or sensory? What is it for?

A

Trigeminal its located in the pons its both a sensory and motor neron the sensory is facial with is divided into 3 parts(V1, V2, V3) and the anterior 2/3 of the tongue(front 2/3) the motor is mastication(biting and chewing)

Q

What is CNVIII? Where is it located? Is it motor or sensory? WHat is it for?

A

Vestibulocochlear(auditory nerve) its located in the ponto medullary its a sensory neron and its for balance and hearing

17
Q

What is CNIX? Where is it located? Is it motor or sensory? WHat is it for?

A

Glossopharyngeal its located Medulla oblongata its both a sensory and motor neron
Sensory- sensation/taste posterior 1/3 of the tongue(back 1/3) and sensation of the pharynx and input from the sinuses, carotid chemo, and baroreceptors
Motor- swallowing, salivution

18
Q

What is CNX? Where is it located? Is it motor or sensory? WHat is it for?

A

Vagus(longest nerve) its located in the Medulla oblongata its both a sensory and motor neron
sensory- sensation from pharynx, larynx, thorax, and abdomen coming from the visceral tissues and taste and sensation of the epiglottis(flap of tissue under the tongue at the back of the throat)
motor- swallowing speech coughing and apart of the autonomic function in particular the parasympathetic nervous system that’s gonna have an effect of decreased heart rate and increase gi motility(gastrointestinal system) and sweating

19
Q

What is CNXI? Where is it located? Is it motor or sensory? WHat is it for?

A

Accessory(spinal accessory nerve) its located in the Medulla oblongata and the cervical spinal cord its a motor neron and its for shrugging your shoulders and turning your head

20
Q

What is CNXII? Where is it located? Is it motor or sensory? WHat is it for?

A

Hypoglossal its located in the Medulla oblongata its a motor neron its for the muscels underneath the tongue responsible for tongue movement
