Thalamus Flashcards
Lateral geniculate body-information in
It receives information from the optic tract. Layers 2,3, and 5 receives information from the ipsilateral eye. Layers 1,4 and 6 receive information from the contrlateral eye.
Lateral geniculate body-information out
The lateral geniculate body projects to the calcarine gyri of the occipital lobe via the optic radiations.
Medial geniculate body-information in
from the inferior colliculus
Medial geniculate body-information out
it projects to the primary auditory cotex in the temporal lobe, deep in the sylbian fissure
VPL-info in
receives both ascending sensory systems from the body
VPL-info out
it projects to the post-central gyrus which is the primary sensory cortex
VPM-info in
it receives info from all the sensory component of the trigeminal system
VPM-info out
it projects to the inferior part of the sensory strip where the face is represented
VA/VL-info in
it receives info from the cerebellum and basal ganglia, the cerebellum goes to vl and basal ganglia goes to va
VA/VL-info out
the project back to motor and motor-association cortex to close the feed back loop for these systems
Anterior nucleus-in
mammilary bodies via the mammillothalamic tract
anterior nucleus-out
it projects to the cingulate gyrus
association nuclei-dorsomedial nucleus-info in
it receives info from the cerebral cortex of the frontal lobe. also from limbic system, particularly amygdala
association nuclei-dorsomedial nucleus-info out
it projects back to the cerebral cortex of the frontal lobe
association nuclei=pulvinar
has a similar back and forth relationship as the dorsomedial nucleus
