Textbook - Chapter 4 Flashcards
How large should the face in a photo be at a bare minimum?
The size of a dime.
What is the rule of thirds?
Divide a photo into thirds horizontally and vertically. Place the subject of the photo at one of the intersection points of the thirds.
What are four types of photos to avoid? (Referring to the action within the photo) Describe each.
1) The “Grip and Grin” - When someone receiving an award just shakes the hand of the person presenting it and smiles for the camera. These photos are bad, get action shots.
2) The Execution at Dawn - A group of people all standing against a wall. Think every PHC sports photo ever.
3) The (Fill in the Blank) at as Desk - A photo of someone doing something at a desk or in a doorway. Shoot a tighter portrait to avoid this
4) The Bored Meeting - A group of people talking behind a long, nondescript table. Illustrate the topic, not a discussion of the topic.
