How do Flame tests work?
A
- Clean platinum wire by dripping in concentrated acid, then into flame
- Dip wire into metal salt
- place in flame

- Add sodium hydroxide
- Test the gas produced (ammonia, NH3) with DAMP red litmus paper
- paper will turn blue
