Deep squat (limited mobility in lower or upper extremities)

A
  • feet shoulder width toes pointed forward
  • give them dowel and have them hold it over head so elbows are 90 degrees
  • then press dowel up so elbows are fully extended
  • maintain upright torso and slowly descend as deep as possible
  • hold for a count of one then return to start
  • 3 reps if needed

Make sure tibia and torso are lined up

  • dowel in line with feet
  • femur below horizontal
  • knees are tracked with feet
  • heels elevated

Hurdle step (poor stability in stance leg)

A
  • measure their tibial tuberosity to get hurdle height
  • have them stand tall with feet together and toes touching pads
  • have them place dowel over head and descend down into shoulders so elbows are 90 degrees
  • have them use right leg and step over hurdle and heel tap other side and return to position

Dowel not parallel with hurdle
Lumbar mvmt
Knees hip feet not aligned

Loss of balance
Cant cross cord
- 3 reps each leg

Alignment issues with hip, knees, feet

  • lumbar spine moves
  • dowel and hurdle not parallel
  • loss of balance
  • inability to clear cord

In line lunge (dynamic stability)

A
  • right toe at zero mark
  • left heel at tibial tuberosity measurement
  • dowel placed at head thoracic spine, and sacrum
  • maintain upright and dowel and descned slowly so knee touches the ground
  • test both sides
  • dowel or torso movement
  • knee does not touch
  • knee mvmt
  • flat foot does not remain the same
  • loss of balance
  • cant do
  • cant set up position

Shoulder mobility with clearing test

A

Clearing test
- right hand toward left shoulder hold and lift elbow, any pain?

  • measure distal crease to middle finger to get hand length
  • stand tall feet together hands hanging
  • make fists and place thumbs in fists
  • one fluid motion right hand behind neck left behind hand and stop once youve hit your back and i will measure
  • 3 reps both sides
  • 3 if fists distance is one hand length
  • 2 if one and half hands
  • 1 if fist is not even one and a half

Active straight leg raise

A
  • lie flat, palms up, fee together, knees on board
  • find midpoint of ASIS and mid patella place dowel there
  • have their working leg straight and opposite leg neutral on board and lift working leg as high as possible
  • see where malleolus is at in relation to dowel and mid thigh
  • make sure opposite leg is neutral

A
  • lie face down hands overhead
  • men thumbs to forehead level
  • women thumbs to chin level
  • prepare for a push up position and begin to push up make sure torso is rigid and your body is one fluid up mvmt
  • error have to move down for thumbs
  • not unison

Rotary stability and clearing test

A

Clearing test- quadruped position hand stretched out far knees to chest and butt to heels, any pain?

  • quadruped position hands over shoulders, knees over hips, with hand, knees, and toes touching the board
  • right shoulder up right leg up to make straight line
  • bring elbow and knee together out again then back to start
    One rep

Do diagonal if cant do straight
