History of the Constantine Chapter
Harry St John Dixon and his fellow Sigma Chi soldiers established the Constantine Chapter. Organized during the Atlanta battles of the Civil War on September 18, 1864. The chapters in the South were being viewed as nonexistent during the heat of the Civil War including brothers in the Army of Tennessee. Dixon fought to preserve the ideals of the white cross and kept names of all Sigma Chi members in the Flyleaf of his Diary. Along with Harry Yerger, Dixon contacted brothers and held secret meetings during the war creating the Constantine Chapter in which Dixon was named Sigma or President and Yerger was Vice President or Chi. The only badge was crafted from a silver dollar. Four members died in battle and on January 1, 1865 the final meeting was held to honor them.
