TEST 3 Surface Anatomy Flashcards
Supracristal line
Line between iliac crests shows L4 for lumbar puncture to avoid spinal cord damage
Triangle of auscultation
Between Rhomboid Major; Trapezius; and Latissismus Doris delineate. There is little muscle so one can hear chest sounds well with the stethoscope ( under shoulder blade)
Mc Burney Point
2/3 rds of distance between umbilicus and the right ASIS; check for rebound tenderness indicates possible APPENDICITIS
Medial bicipital furrow
Contains brachial artery and pulse
Antecubital (cubital) fossa
Location of median Cubital vein for blood draws( inside on elbow ( median cubital)
Anatomical Snuff box
Formed by the thumb tendons: extensor pollicis brevis; abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis longus. Pulse of radial artery can be felt here and palpation of scaphoid bone.
Three major sites of intramuscular injection
These site avoid major nerves and blood vessels: Deltoid; gluteus medius and vastus lateralis(good in infants)
Nasal cleft
Between cheek and gluteal fold(butt crack)
