Where does humans energy come from?
Food
What do people need energy for?
move, play, keep warm, work and keep us alive.
What 4 things determine how much energy you need?
AGE - old people use less energy than young people
How active you are - the more sport you do, the more energy you use
HEALTH - if you are sick, your body needs energy to fight germs
GENDER - boys run around more than girls but a tall active girl will use more energy than a lazy boy
ACTIVITY - the more active you are, the more energy you use
What do plants need to grow?
Water, soil and sunlight
What is called when plants absorb the suns energy?
Photosynthesis
Explain energy transfer
The plans and grass absorb the sun.
Animals eat plants so the animals get the energy
Humans eat the animals so humans get energy

Explain the food chain / energy chain.
The food chain is when energy travels from the sun and is transferred through plants to animals

FOOD - gives us energy to move
WOOD - energy is stored in wood in trees, when we burn wood it gives us heat
COAL - used to make heat and light
OIL - Used for petrol, diesel, paraffin and candle wax
NATURAL GAS - used to make heat and light
