Test 2 Lecture 3: Heart II Flashcards
Where are Preganglyonic sympathetic neuron cell bodies of heart located
Lateral horn of spinal cord segnments T1-T5
Where are post-ganglionic cell bodies located
Cervical and superior Thoracic para vertebral ganglia. Their fibers contribute to cardiac plexuses
Where do post-synaptic fibers end
SA Node, AV Node and coronary arteries
What is sympathetic innervation responsible for
Increasing heartrate, increasing force of heartbeat and dilating coronary arteries
Where are Preganglyonic sympathetic neuron cell bodies of heart located
Lateral horn of spinal cord segnments T1-T5
The post ganglyonic fibers that come out of T1-T5 galgia are called?
Cardiothoracic splnachlic nerves
What is parasympathetic innervation of heart via
Preganglyonic fibers of the Vagus Nerve
What contributes to parasympathetic caradiac plexus
presynaptic parasympathetic fibers
Where do post synaptic parasympathetic fibers end
SA Node, AV node or directly on coronary arteries
What does parasympathetic innervation do
Decreases heartrate, decreases force of heartbeat and constricts coronary arteries
What do visceral pain pathways from heart follow
Sympathetic pathways but backwards.
What nerves does cardiac pain refer to?
C8-T5 especially on the left side
What does Vagus nerve sensory do
Doesn’t transmit pain, but participates in reflex actions like lowering blood pressure and slowing heartrate
Where is the SA node located
wall or right atrium near opening of superior vena cava and superior end of cristae terminales.
What does SA node do
Initiates Cardiac muscle contraction and determines heartrate
