- Their actions have the potential to force change
- Their use of fear is an appropriate response to the given situation or opposition
- There is no alternative
Possible reasons for terrorism or the development of terrorist groups.
- The marginalisation of minority groups, e.g. receiving fewer rights or feel their culture is being attacked and destroyed
- A fight for independence or international recognition and land
- When religious freedoms are violated
What do all mainstream Christian churches believe about terrorism?
The use of hatred, terror and violence by Christians is not appropriate for finding solutions in any situation.

- Catholic Church accepts that sometimes a just war is an appropriate response to terrorism.
- Church of England accepts the use of lethal force as a last resort in dealing with terrorists.
How does the Church believe will combat some of the causes of terrorism?
By creating stronger communities.

Why do some Christians argue that it is wrong to get involved in politics?
They believe that God is sovereign and can be trusted.
Why do other Christians argue that it is their moral obligation to be involved in politics?
They believe it is important to stay informed about government decisions and to speak up if there appears to be any form of injustice.
How is voting a part of Christians involvement in UK politics?
Christians will seek to use their right to vote in a way that best fits with their values. Many believe this is a way to serve God and effect change,

The state church in England.
What are the roles of the monarch (Queen)?
- The Supreme Governor of the Church and The Defender of Faith (promises to maintain the church)
- Must approve the appointment of archbishops, bishops and deans on the prime ministers recommendation.
What other role has the Church of England got?
Law making in Britain.
How many bishops in the House of Lords and what do they do?
26 who make up the Lords Spiritual. They are there to bring a spiritual consideration to the secular process of law.
