- Small groups that are separatists against larger government forces
- The separatists usually have clear-cut, achievable goals

Individuals that support the separation of a group from a larger body
What is the role of violence in ethnic terrorism?

What is the difference between ethnic terrorists and religious terrorists?
Ethnic terrorists are usually more nationalistic

Ethnic terrorists try to establish a national identity, appealing to the nationalistic background of a certain ethnic group

Peaceful negotiated settlements
