What is common cause of anterior G-H dislocation?
forced shoulder abduction, ER, and extension.
With disc protrusion a pt tends to lean away for their symptoms (pain), what should be done to correct this?
if pain is felt on left side pt will be leaning trunk to R so, shift pt’s hips to the R to correct lean and relieve symptoms.
Deep tendon reflexes (DTR’s) responses could be?
- Areflexia (absent) or 0
- Hyporeflexive (sluggish) or 1+, indicates LMN injury
- Normal or 2+
- Hyperreflexia (brisk) or 3+, indicates UMN injury or disease
What is crutch palsy?
- compression of radial nerve
- weakness in triceps, brachioradialis, supinator, wrist and finger extensors, and sensory loss in dorsum of hand and radial forearm could result.
What is Saturday night palsy?
- compression of radial nerve (at spiral groove of humerus) from draping are over the back of chair for long period.
What is Stereognosis and how is it tested?
- the ability to distinguish objects by feel alone
- object is placed in pt’s hand (with eye’s closed) and pt id’s the object by touch alone.
What is Barognosis and how is it tested?
- ability to evaluate the weight of objects
- similar objects of different weights are placed in pt’s hands and pt tries to id the difference in weight
What is Kinesthesia?
- awareness of the position and movement of body parts by means of sensory organs (proprioceptions) in muscle and joints.
