Neuro related Flashcards
If a pt severed their tibial nerve in a farming accident what would you expect?
- innervates gastroc’s, soleus, posterior tibialis and some toe flexors
- standing on toe’s would be severely impacted on pt’s involved side.
What can toe clawing be from/causation?
- hypertonicity of toe flexers
- plantar grasp reflex
- positive supporting reflex
While standing you apply posterior perturbations to your pt, to correct this movement what muscle would you expect to correct your pt’s ant/posterior sway?
- tibialis anterior would be first muscle to activate.
What type(s) of gait pattern would you expect a pt with parkinsons disease?
- shuffling gait
- festinating gait
If a pt has a loss of their sense of position, movement, pressure, vibration, and stereognosis what spinal tract do you suspect is affected?
- dorsal funiculus (dorsal column)
Which spinal tract is associate with voluntary muscle activity of head region including CN motor activity and swallowing?
- corticobulbar tract
What spinal tract is associated with light touch and general tactile sensation?
- anterior spinothalamic tract
The lateral femoral cutaneous nerve covers which area of the body?
lateral thigh
The obturator nerve covers which area of the body?
medial thigh
The femoral nerve covers which area of the body?
medial aspect of leg from middle thigh distal to the medial malleolus
The sciatic nerve covers which area of the body?
- posterior thigh
- posterior distal calf
- dorsum and lateral boarder of the foot.
The superficial peroneal nerve covers which area of the body?
dorsum of the foot
The deep peroneal nerve covers which area of the body?
dorsum of foot between 1st and 2nd toe
The sural nerve covers which area of the body?
lateral boarder of the foot
The tibial nerve covers which area of the body?
plantar surface of the foot
