Lung collapse due to a collection of BLOOD in the pleural space.
HEMOTHORAX
Lung collapse due to a collection of AIR in the pleural space.
PNEUMOTHORAX
Complications of a Pneumothorax. Occurs when the opening to the pleura space creates a one-way valve, then air collects in the lungs and cant escape. (Pressure builds up)

• Increased respiratory rate

TACHYPNEA
• Absence of breathing
APNEA
• Deep respirations/Breathing
HYPERAPNEA
• SHALLOW breathing
HYPOAPNEA
• Increase and decrease in respirations with apnea
CHEYNE-STOKES
• Rapid grasps with short pauses between sets
BIOT’S
• Tachypnea and Hyperapnea
KUSSMAUL’S
• Prolonged inspiration and shortened expiration
APNEUSTIC
• TROUBLE breathing
• Shortness of breath
DYSPNEA
• Trouble breathing when lying down, and relieved by sitting or standing up
ORTHOPNEA
• Breathing MORE rapidly than normal
HYPERVENTILATION
• Breathing LESS than normal
HYPOVENTILATION
