Terminology Flashcards
Synovial Membrane
Vascular supply connective tissue. Produces synovial fluid.
Lies in the joint cavity and is responsible for lubricating the joints.
Synovial Fluid
Forms part of the skeleton where movement occurs. And is a resilient form of connective tissue. Stronger than muscle, but softer than bones
Cartilage
When two or more bones or parts of bones meet to form a junction.
Articulation
A fibrous cord or band that connects a muscle to a bone or another structure
Tendon
Ligament
A band or sheet of fibrous tissue. Used to connect 2 or more bones, cartilages, or structures together
A sac with a synovial like membrane and fluid (like egg whites) inside.
Can be found in areas of friction as an aid to reduce friction.
Bursa
Connective tissue
Links body parts and other tissues such as skin and muscle
