Muscle Structure Flashcards
Epysium
Sheath of fibrous elastic tissue surrounding a muscle
Fascile
Functional bundle of muscle fibre
Perimysium
Surrounds the fascile
Sheath of connective tissue surrounding a bundle of muscle fibres
Endomysium
Surrounds individual muscle fibres
Sacrolemma
Thin plasma membrane surrounding a single
muscle fibre.
Myofibril
Contractile elements inside muscle cell/fibres
Sacroplasm
Found between the myofibrils
Transverse tubules
Found in sacroplasm and penetrate into the cells.
Sacroplasmic Reticulum
Surrounds myofibrils and store/release calcium
Sarcomere
Where to contraction occurs in the myofibril.
Sliding happens between Actin and Myosin Fibres. Thick and think filament. Thin filament can slide past the thick filament.
Basis for muscle contraction.
