Essential Tremor
Intention tremor, affecting upper extremities, head, voice, goes away with sleep and EtOH.
Chorea
Brief, irregular, unintentional muscle contractions that flow into one another but are not repetitive or rhythmic.
Akathisia
Sensation of central restlessness that causes the patient to move frequently.
Athetosis
Slow, writing movements of the hands and feet; often occur with chorea in huntingtons disease.
Hemiballisumus
unilateral violent arm flipping caused by damage to the contralateral subthalamic nucleus; disruptive, but self limited.
Myoclonus
Involuntary jerking of a muscle or muscle group; can be patterned and is usually triggered by contraction or relaxation.
Titubation
Forward and backward movement of the trunk when attempting to stand still.
