Maintenance of a stable internal environment
What two regulatory mechanisms control homeostasis?
Feed forward and feedback
Define feedback
The body’s response to revert a change, move variable back towards normal
Define feedforward
Action to minimise the effect of an anticipated change
Where is the coronal plane?
Divides into front and back sections
Where is the sagittal plane?
Divides into left and right pieces. Can have midsagittal plane (2 symmetrical halves)
Where is the transverse plane?
Divides into top and bottom sections
What movements occur in the sagittal plane?
FL/EX, DF/PF
What movements occur in the coronal plane?
AB/AD, INV/EV
What movements occur in the transverse plane?
ROT, PRO/SUP
What planes does circumduction occur in?
Sagittal and coronal
What axis corresponds to the sagittal plane?
Coronal axis
What axis corresponds to the coronal plane?
Sagittal axis
