PHARMACOTHERAPEUTICS
It is a property of an ideal drug wherein a drug exhibits the responses for which it is given.
EFFECTIVENESS
It is one of the ethical considerations wherein there is importance in protecting research subjects from harm.
BENEFICENCE
A drug name that is chosen by the drug company. Usually registered and has a proprietary name.
TRADE/BRAND NAME
These are drugs that can be purchased without a prescription and are considered safe without the supervision of the HCP.
OVER-THE-COUNTER DRUGS
It includes 4 processes namely, absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion. It studies how the drug moves throughout the body.
PHARMACOKINETICS
One of the processes wherein it explains how medication transmits from the location of administration to the bloodstream.
ABSORPTION
It refers to the amount of drug administered that is the same amount being eliminated. It is the plateau drug level.
STEADY STATE
The process wherein elimination of drugs mainly takes place through kidneys or can also through bile, lungs, saliva, sweat, and breastmilk.
EXCRETION
The term refers to the dosage or the amount of drug necessary to elicit reactions to a given medication.
POTENCY
It is a drug reaction wherein sensitization of the immune system takes place.
ALLERGIC REACTION
This is a term for a disease that is brought by drugs.
LATROGENIC DISEASE
This is a type of prescription wherein medications are scheduled regularly with or without a termination date.
STANDARD PRESCRIPTION
The time when the drug reaches its highest concentration in the blood.
