Explain what PHYSICAL violence is and provide an example
causes injury, pain, leaves marks

Explain what NEGLECT is and provide an example
Failure to provide basic NEEDS

When someone shows himself to others, in public
Explain what PSYCHOLOGICAL violence is and provide an example
- normally no physical signs; someone controls another (tell them what to do)

Is BULLYING a form of violent behaviour?
yes
Explain BULLYING
- can happen anywhere (school ; street; your home)
- can be physical, verbal, teasing
- if children joke around with one another and
EVERYONE enjoys it, no-one gets hurt, it is NOT
BULLLYING
-it is BULLYING if someone get’s hurt, scared
Name the CAUSES of violence
1) Gender inequality
2) Poverty
3) Alcohol abuse (or other substance)
4) Frustration/lack of opportunity
5) Difficulty communication
6) Exposed to violence
Explain the IMPACT of violence on the COMMUNITY
1) Economic :
if a community is violent, people don’t open shops
or build houses
2) Social :
People don’t trust each other; difficult to build a
sense of community where people help one
another
Explain the IMPACT of violence on the INDIVIDUAL
1) Physical :
People are at risk of death or injury, trouble
sleeping, eating, etc.
2) Social :
Don’t trust others, don’t make friends ; difficult to
get help, as they need to report a family member ;
afraid of the consequences of reporting someone
3) Psychological :
Feel upset, angry, afraid, lonely and might feel
embarrassed and blame themselves, violence and
abuse can cause depression
Name the problem-solving steps to managing ANGER
- IDENTIFY the problem (put it into words, what is
making you upset?) - think of HOW you will react (manage your anger)
- consider the CONSEQUENCES of each solution
- make a DECISION
- afterwards, spend time to THINK about how it went
How do you handle being bullied? What can you do?
- WALK away
- FOGGING (agree with the bully)
- BODY LANGUAGE (look straight,eye contact,
speak clearly & confidently; don’t fidget; act brave) - make FRIENDS with others who will help you
- tell an ADULT you trust
