What is the shechitah method?
Slitting the throat and draining the blood done by a shochet.
SOWAA for kosher animals.
‘eat any animal that has a divided hoof and that chews the cud’
SOWAA for non kosher animals
‘does not have fins and scales you may not eat’
Why is keeping kashrut less important for Jews?
They believe that the laws of Moses are not God’s direct words but instead a way to lead a holy life.
Why is keeping kashrut important? (3)
They aren’t breaking the mitzvot
Gives a sense of Jewish identity.
Jews can bond with other Jews.
Why is the talmud important?
It explains the meaning of the 613 mitzvot.
Teaches how to apply the mitzvot to daily life.
Its the basis of the halakhah.
Why is the tenakh important?
Its important for synagogue worship.
The Psalms are a daily part of Jewish prayer.
Studying the tenakh brings Jews closer to God.
