What are the different types of teeth?
Canines, Incisors, Premolars, Molars
What are the parts of the tooth?
Crown, root, enamel, dentine, pulp cavity, cement + fibres, nerves + blood vessels
What are canines?
Pointed, used for piercing, tearing and ripping
What are incisors?
Chisel like, used for biting and cutting food
What are premolars and molars?
Used for crushing, grinding, and chewing food
What is the crown of the tooth?
Parts of tooth above gum
What is the root of the tooth?
Parts of tooth below gum
What is the enamel?
Outer surface of tooth (hardest substance in the body)
What is the dentine?
Softer layer beneath enamel
What is the pulp cavity?
Cavity contains nerves + bloodvessels
What is the cement and fibres?
Responsible for holding tooth in jaw bone.
What is the nerve and bloodvessels?
Provide feeling + nutrients for tooth.
What is tooth decay?
Microbes produce bacteria. Acid attacks enamel + let bacteria through.
What are microbes?
Produce bacteria
What does acid do to the enamel?
Attacks and then bacteria is let through
