Q

What occurs at a destructive plate margin? How can earthquakes and volcanoes occur/form?

A

Plates move towards one another. Denser Oceanic crust subduct’s under continental crust into the mantle. Friction builds up and causes strong earthquakes when pressure is released. Oceanic plate melts and creates magma, forming steep composite volcanoes. When magma rises it erupts violently.

Q

What occurs at constructive margins? How can eq’s and volcanoes form?

A

2 continental plates move apart and magma forces its way to the surface. As magma breaks crust it causes mild eq’s. Flat, broad shield volcanoes formed.

Q

What occurs at a conservative margin? How do earthquakes and or volcanoes occurs/form

A

Call each other friction between the plates, build stresses and trigger earthquakes when they slip. No volcanoes because there’s no magma.
