What are E-brochures?
Online brochures that may have additional features such as website links and virtual tours.
What is an advantage and disadvantage of e-brochures?
-They are cost effective as don’t require printing
-Require access to tech which not everyone will have
What is a review?
Evaluation/feedback provided by customers about a product/service/business that is posted on the internet.
What is an advantage and disadvantage of a review?
-They build trust/credibility for a business and provides insights for customers.
-They can be misleading or bias (fake reviews)
What is a blog?
Online platforms where individuals/groups share their thoughts/experiences/info in a conversation informal style. Bloggers may share travel trips, personal experiences and visual inspiration to other travelers for inspiration/info.
What is an advantage and disadvantage of a blog?
-Offer personal insights/tips that cannot be found in a traditional travel guide. They also foster a sense of community.
-Information may not be reliable/accurate and can be subjective/misleading.
What is a virtual tour?
Online experiences that allow people to explore a location/attraction without physically being there. Can be used for pre-trip planning, showcasing an attraction, and marketing.
What is an advantage and disadvantage of a virtual tour?
-Can save time/money for travelers who want to decide where to go and is accessible for wider range of audience.
-May be difficult to navigate and some people may not have the required tech, it also can’t replicate the actual sight, sound, feelings of being there in person.
What are videos?
Recordings that capture sight and sound and is used for things such as social media engagement and educational context- information on the destination.
What is an advantage and disadvantage of videos?
-Captures viewer attention more and creates strong emotional connection with potential customers
- Can create unrealistic expectations and producing can be expensive/time consuming
What are mailshots?
Marketing communications sent out to a large number of recipients, typically via email. Can includes special offers and updates about a destination.
What is an advantage and disadvantage of mailshots?
-Allow businesses to reach large target audience and engage potential customers, cost effective
-Can be perceived as spam which leads to negative perceptions of the business and people unsubscribing, may not resonate with large audience, risk of low engagement.
What are popups?
Small windows that appear on a screen while browsing websites. Used for surveys, destination highlights and offers.
What is an advantage and disadvantage of pop-ups?
-Captures attention of potential customers and encourages immediate action
-Can be intrusive and annoying leading to customers leaving the website.
