Islamic teachings on peace
Islam comes from the root of the word peace in Arabic, submission to Allah’s will is how peace is produced and maintained.
Allah’s command is that people live in peace justice and responsible brotherhood.
The Qur’an teaches that it is better to seek reconciliation than revenge (Surah 1:134)
Christianity
Retaliation when wronged is not helpful-it is better to pray.
Prayer shows forgiveness and compassion and follows Jesus’ example.
Jesus wanted us to be ‘peacekeepers’ (Matthew 5:9)

Some believe in this completely, and are pacifists, others believe sometimes it is necessary if it follows the Just War Theory.

Some Christians believe that the words and actions of Jesus show they should not take part in any armed conflict and are therefore conscientious objectors.
