Why are all Muslims expected to marry?
Sex is a gift from Allah and a natural part of life, but sex outside of marriage is forbidden so all Muslims must fulfil their urges by marrying.
What is the Nikah?
The contract agreed and signed by the two families involved in the marriage.

What is the process of a Muslim wedding?
> usually takes place in a mosque, large hall or house
> readings of Qur’an and prayers

> a Nikah drawn up before and mahr exchanged

What is the main principle of Muslim divorce?
The marriage should be saved if possible
What is Talaq?
The right of divorce of the husband
If the woman wants right of divorce it needs to be included in the Nikah
What is the Muslim divorce process?
The husband had the right to divorce, he must say “I divorce you” 3 times
> Iddah is the 3 month reconciliation period, any sexual relations count as reconciliation
> if child is conceived period lasts until recovery from birth
> women’s financial obligations must be met
> husband must be responsible for children
> good relationship maintained for children
