Teaching Methods Flashcards
It is a method of teaching foreign languages derived from the classical method of teaching Greek and Latin. In grammar translation classes, students learn grammatical rules and then apply those rules by translating sentences between the target language and the native language.
Grammar Translation Method
It receives its name from the fact that meaning is to be conveyed directly in the target language through the use of demonstrations and visual aids with no recourse to the student’s native language.
The Direct Method
It is a method of foreign language teaching which emphasizes the teaching of listening and speaking before reading and writing.
The Audio-Lingual Method
It emphasizes learner autonomy and active students participation. Silence is used as a tool to achieve this goal.
The Silent Way
It is a method of teaching a foreign language in which students learn quickly by being made to feel relaxed, interested and positive.
Suggestopedia
It is an approach in which students work together to develop what aspects of a language they would like to learn. The teacher acts as a counsellor and a paraphraser.
Community Language Learning
TPR is a method of teaching language or vocabulary concepts by using physical movement to react to verbal input. The process mimics the way that infants learn their first language, and it reduces students inhibitions and lower stress.
