Learning Approaches Flashcards
It addresses what students should know and be able to do at the end of the process of learning. It Consists of content standards, performance standards and proficiency standards. It is concerned with developing the five C5: communication, culture, connections, comparison, communities.
Standard-based approach
It focuses on the competencies of students; it aims at teaching and mastering one skill then moving to the next one.
Competency based approach
It is a learner-centered approach because it gives the learners a chance to learn by themselves and to be involved in the process of learning
Communicative approach
It is an approach language teaching that focuses not on language itself but rather on what is being taught through the language (context)
Content based approach
It combined various approaches and methodologies to teach language depending on the aims of the person and the abilities of the learners
Eclectic approach
It adopts techniques and activities from different sources but uses them to provide comprihensible input, focusing on the comprehensible input= knowledge is what matters most
The natural approach
It is a scientific approach that aims to teach language scientifically with regard to the learners’ readiness and centredness.
The humanistic approach
Language is a rule-governed cognitive behavior rather than a habit formation
The cognitive approach
Language acquisition occurs if and only if the learner receives and comprehends sufficient meaningful comprehensible input.
