TD 107 Flashcards
What are the night or NVG considerations for TASK 2067 Select LZ PZ HA?
- Apply common considerations
- Unimproved or unlit areas are more difficult to evaluate at night because of low contrast. Knowledge of the various methods for determining the height of obstacles is critical to successfully completing this task. LZ/PZ/HA will require a larger area at night. Details of the landing area will be more difficult to see
State the Army VFR Weather minimums
G (Rotary Wing) <1,200’ AGL at Night
Class C,D,E < 10,000 MSL at Night
G: 1SM & clear or clouds
C,D,E: 3SM & 2,000’ horizontal, 1,000’ above, 500’ below
The NVD infrared light must b installed and operational for all NVD flights except FLIR aircraft. Failure of the light in flight must be _____
evaluated to determine impact on mission and further NVD flight.
Instrument lighting should be:
Map lights should be positioned to provide:
Bat wings and glare shields should be:
Adjusted to the lowest usable intensity that will allow unaided viewing of the instruments
Additional lighting on those areas that are not adequately illuminated
Extended to reduce internal glare and minimise detection by enemy sources
Unaided night flight is not authorised below what altitude?
200’ AHO (except for takeoff/landing
to view an object by looking 10deg above, below or either side rather than directly at the object.
increases as the amount of visual purple in the rods increases.
Dark adaptation for optimal night vision acuity approaches its maximum level in about ___ to ___ minutes under minimal lighting conditions.
30 - 45
What are the night or NVG considerations for Perform Autorotation?
- Attitude control is critical during night autorotations
- The lack of visual reference reduces the aviators ability to estimate airspeed and altitude. Use the landing/searchlight as appropriate. To compensate for the lack of visual reference, the aviator will attain a steady-state autorotation before reaching 300’ AGL.
