Task: F Technique of Flight Instruction Flashcards
Obstacles to learning during flight instruction (WIPA UA)
W-orry or lack of interest I-mpatience P-hysical discomfort, illness, fatigue, dehydration A-pathy due to inadequate instruction U-nfair treatment A-nxiety
Demonstration-performance training delivery used almost exclusively with inflight training and geared toward the flight instructor. (EDSIE)
E-xplanation by instructor D-emonstration by instructor S-tudent performs I-nstructor supervises E-valuation by instructor

Sterile flight deck
- Refrain from non-essential activities during critical phases.
- Critical phases= taxi, takeoff, landing and below 10,000(except cruise)
Use of distractions
- Stall/spin usually occurs during take off and landing
- Instructor should intentionally create distractions while the student is flying the aircraft.
- ask the student to get something out of the backseat or to read outside temperature
Integrated flight instruction
- Use outside references first then reference flight instruments
- Establish early in training
- Better safety record having ifr rating
Common types of assessments given to students by CFI’s (RCWP)
R-eview
C-ollaborative
W-ritten tests
P-erformance based tests
Assessing pilot ability is important because it shows (WHH)
- What students have learned
- How students learn
- How well students learn
Decision making process (DCI)
D-efine the problem
C-hoose a course of action
I-mplement the decision
Hazardous behaviors (AMIRI)
A-nti-authority (Follow the rules) M-acho (Taking Chances is foolish) I-nvulnerability (it could happen to me) R-esignation (Im not helpless, I can make a difference) I-mpulsivity (Not so fast, think first)
Stressors that affect pilot performance
3 P’s
P-hysical stress
P-hysiological stress
P-sychological stress
Use of resources (I E)
I-nternal resources (What you know)
E-xternal resources (ATC, FSS, WXBrief)
