For short term tasks, encourage your child to picture the end result of doing a task in the positive emotion that may be attached to it
Present the idea of chores as something that is done to show respect for your family; teach them to take pride in this responsibility. Provide rationales for each chore
Provide a visual of all the chores for each family member and give your child some choice and which ones they would like to be responsible for
Teach your child the steps to do a chore independently
Make a game out of chores. Brainstorm with kids to make them more fun
Discuss the quality expectation of chores before asking your kids to complete them.
Break big chores into a series of small parts.
Communicate consistent expectations about when, where, and how homework is done and your household.
Make a homework plan with your child to plan out the use of time and reflect on the time usage after homework
Schedule breaks or mini rewards for hard work.
Create goals with your child to track success.
For long term projects, help your child see the long view by taking each task and putting it on the calendar with a series of mini due dates
