What is the difference between Airworthiness vs. Registration? What’s the regulation for this?
A.) Airworthiness: must be visible to passengers, and does not expire as long as the plane complies with inspections & AD’s
B.) Registration: 7 calendar years

What are AD’s?
Airworthiness Directives, AD’s (PHAK 9-12)
They are used to notify aircraft owners of unsafe conditions. AD’s can be one-time or reoccurring. They shall be complied with to remain airworthy. The manufacturer will issue a service bulletin, and the FAA decides if it becomes an AD. It is similar to a recall on a car.
What are the types of ADs?
Emergent, Non-emergent, Recurring, One time and Conditional
Describe a Special Flight Permit
A special flight permit is a special airworthiness certificate allowing
operation of an aircraft that is not airworthy but is still capable of a specific safe flight. To obtain a special flight permit forms may be obtained through the FSDO (flight standards district office). Must be flown to a station for repairs, or for delivery, or removing an aircraft out of danger.
What are the different occasions you’d apply for a special flight permit?
Maintenance, Safety of Plane, New Ownership of Plane, Test Flights, Flight Demonstration and Excess Weight Operations.

When can a pilot perform preventative maintenance?
A pilot may perform preventive maintenance if he/she is the owner of the aircraft.
