When do we need to log flights?
We are required to only log what keeps us current, or if working towards a certification. We are not required to log all flights.

What do you need to fly under basic med?
- U.S. driver’s licenses
- FAA medical certificate valid after July 14, 2006 (cannot have been denied or revoked)
- Every 24 months you need to complete a free medical education course (good to the last day of the month)
- Answer health questions on the (CMEC) comprehensive medical examination
- your physical examination by a state-licensed physician and have them complete the CMEC (keep the CMEC)
- take the online medical course and complete the consent to the National Driver Registration (NDR) check. (keep the course completion document)
What are the privileges of a basic med?
- Aircraft up to 6 seats
- up to 6 people (including pilot)
- 6,000 LBS max takeoff weight or less
- VFR or IFR.. up to but not including 18,000 feet
- 250 kts IAS max. (its ok if the aircraft can fly faster than that, but you are limited to that airspeed)
- not for hire
- not flights outside of the U.S. (unless country you’re flying to allows it)
- same limitations as a pilot (pro rate share, search and rescue, etc.)
