What is task analysis?
Analysis and documenting the demands of the task.
What are components of task analysis?
- Clinical observations
- Body functions
- Performance skills
What is the purpose of task analysis?
- Documents demands of the occupation (task)
- Look at capacity of the client
- Work out what aspects of work they can/can’t do, and what might need to change for them to return to work in the future
What is a report?
Written documentation related to any of the following:
- Assessment and findings
- Communication with stakeholders
- Progress notes
- Clinical opinions
- Documenting recommendations
- Any other written material
Describe the layout of a report
1) Clear Layout
- Sectional heading to guide reader
- History vs Current Situation
- All data confined to 1 part
2) Using headings
- Provides reader with clarity
- Reader easily find the parts they need
- Covers necessary aspects
- Assists with keeping information in logical order and prevents jumping
What is the generic order of a report?
1) Letter to referrer
2) Client details and information re. referral
3) Reports read prior/during assessment
4) Background history (medical and functional)
5) Current status (medical and functional)
6) Subjective reports/findings
7) Objective assessment and findings
8) Analysis/interpretation
9) Opinion
10) Recommendations
11) References
What is some clinical reasoning used in reports?
- What can the worker do?
- What can the worker not do?
- What do I need to recommend to help the worker?
- Opinion based, based on scientific, ethical, pragmatic, procedural and conditional reasoning
What is a match identified in reports?
If the client has the capacity to complete the demands of the job, then this is our opinion, backed by evidence available to us.
What is a non-match identified
If demands of the job are greater then the capacities of the client, then it is not a good match at that point in time.
