Task 7 She's not just a computer Flashcards
Cognitive theory of emotions
Emotions result as a judgement about a persons state
Physiological theory of emotions
Emotions are brain reactions to physiological changes rather than a person’s state.
Emotion
Interaction between bodily reaction and cognitive appraisal, usually based on specific event
Mood
Long lasting emotions that are usually not linked to a particular situation
Affective computing
Computing that related to, arises from, or deliberately influences emotions
Intuitive Thinking in Environment Risk Appraisal (ITERA)
- Determinants of responsibility (agency), controllability, motive and knowledge about negative consequences are incorporated into network
- Prediction of emotions based on determinants that are observed that inhibit/exhibit particular emotional reaction
- Connectionist model with nodes corresponding to emotions
Hot coherence model (Hot-Co)
A connectionist affective computational model in which each unit is given a valence, representing its emotional value, in addition to the normal activation which represents its applicability to the current situation
GAGE
a neurocomputational model of emotional decision making
- link to phineas gage
EMA
A computational model acknowledging appraisal theory, taking into account the person-environment relation, the appraisal-derivation process (Interpretation), emotion derivation (Emotion) and affect consequences (Coping)
- Fast = appraisal
- Slow = coping
Psymate
An electronical tool used to monitor patients over days; little device asking several times a day different questions about mood
–> Positive evaluation of users
Plausibility
- Ai lacks conscious experience of emotion
- Doubtful that computers will ever have emotions like humans
- Do not have bodily inputs crucial to emotions
Uncanny Valley
Humans become more uncomfortable with robot, not due to its appearance, but due to its display of emotions and experience
Social Robot
Autonomous robot that interacts and communicates with humans or other autonomous physical agents by following social behaviors and rules attached to its role.
