Task 1 Outsourced Intelligence Flashcards
Cognitive science
Aims to explain how the mind carries out tasks
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Systems that display intelligent behavior by analyzing their environment and taking actions - with some degree of autonomy - to achieve a specific goal
(Intelligence demonstrated by machines)
Narrow AI
System that can only do one specific task
General AI
System that has general rather than specific skills
Machine learning
Machines learn through past experiences and automatically improve on task
Prediction
Prediction is about how well AI can predict current (e.g. diagnosing) or future events (e.g. how many products will be sold)
CRUM
Computational Representational Understanding of the Mind. Assumes that thinking results from mental representations and computational procedures that operate on these structures.
Singularity
The hypothesis that the invention of artificial intelligence will trigger immense technological growth, and result in unpredictable changes to society.
Expert system
Computer programmed to incorporate the knowledge and ability of an expert in a particular (clinical) domain used for decision making
Fuzzy expert system
Experts that use fuzzy logic (truth values that can lie between 0 and 1 rather than either 0 or 1) to make decisions
Turing test
Test to identify if machine is indistinguishable to a human (Chat)
Markov model
A random process is Markov if the future is independent from the past given the present
Timeline predictions
Predictions about in what year events will happen
Moore’s law
Observation and projection of a historical trend;
Prediction that the number of processing units in an integrated closed-off circuit will double every 2 years
ELIZA
First simulation of psychotherapist that used human-computer interface (1966)
