tan spot is oval/diamond in she a well as you can see the pycnidia but with septoria tritici blotch it is very visible on the leaf lesions
2 methods for controlling septoria and why they are used?
- crop rotation that includes non cereal crops for at least 1 yr bc after 1 yr the viability is reduced of disease
- destroy volunteers like wheat and rye bc they can be hosts for the disease
ergot is becoming more of a problem in MB. 2 reasons why this is a major issue for farmers.
it reduces the grade / quality of grain as well it is toxic to man and animals
