Taking Accurate Measurements Flashcards
1
Q
When planning an experiment what do you need to do?
A
Decide what you are going to measure, how often you’ll measure it, appropriate equipment and techniques.
2
Q
Why is apparatus important?
A
It needs to be able to be sensitive enough to measure changes you’re looking for.
3
Q
EXAMPLE.
What would you use if you were measuring small changes in pH?
A
pH meter - measures pH to several decimal places.
This would be more accurate than using indicator paper.
4
Q
EXAMPLE.
How to measure concentration of glucose in solution in a more accurate / precise way?
A
Use a colorimeter in conjunction with Benedict’s reagent.
More accurate then simply comparing colour differences by eye.
