Define frictional keratosis

A

The white patches of frictoinal keratosis that develop in the oral cavity that represents a chronic, low-grade mechanical process. Eg. Linea Alba.

Other contributing factors:

  • ill-fitting or irregular surfaced removable dental prostheses
  • Orthodontics
  • improper tooth brushing
  • through mastication on endentulous alveolar ridges
