Random sampling

Strengths:
• Sufficient size, make the results easily generalizable, ensure the representativeness

Stratified sampling

A
  • Demographic differences
  • Proportionally representative of the group

Strengths:
• Allow researcher to control representativeness of some key characteristics
• When the researcher is certain about which characteristic are essential in a small sample size

Limitations:
• Hard to implement
• Requires more knowledge about characteristics of the target population

Strengths:

  • Quick and easy
  • Wide range of participants

Limitations:
• Limited representativeness and generalization
