felt humiliated as they had to pay a large amount of money to winners too

A

G new politicians had betrayed by asking for a ceasefire when the K left.

some soldiers thought G could’ve carried on fighting but was betrayed by politicians who ended war

Field Marshal Hidenburg said- ‘the G army was stabbed in the back. No blame is to be attached to the army. Its is perfectly clear on whom the blame rests’.

A

war guilt clause 231 damaged German pride as was belittling/public humiliation bc Austria-H no blame -> generation of revengeful ppl = turn to extreme parties + plunge world into another destructive war fueled by Nazi regime

LoN was formed but G wasn’r allowed to join

A

article 232 stated had to pay reparation £6.6 billion-> G believed f,a,b tryning to starve them to death

Danzig important port taken from G + Saar an idustrial part of G was put under LoN control -> shattered economy

how did Tov affect G territory

A

G lost 10% of their; Alsace-Lorraine, Eupen, Malmedy, North Schleswig -> also have detrimental affect on economy

G lost 12.5% of population, 10% of land, 14% of coal and farming land-> destabilised already crippled economy

G was split in two by Polish corridor-> bitter controversy amongst Polish and German who were now refugees in P

Anschluss forbidden-> no sympathy for G, very disdain

A

limited to 15,000 men, 6 battleships, no submarines/air force, no conscription -> shadow of the prestigious power she had been in 1914

demilitarisation of the Rhineland-> a a vulnerable country surrounded by strong military force of neighbouring countries
