Q

What is antigen presentation?

A

Antigens broken down within cells and presented on plasma membrane on antigen presenting cells (macrophages and dendritic cells) MHC proteins involved in this.

Q

Why must T cells also bind to antigens presented on B cells too?

A

To agree on the antibody that needs to be produced. (To not waste resources and energy)

Q

What is co stimulation?

A

Induction of cytokine secretion from the T cell. This allows the B cell to proliferate

Q

What do T cells do after co stimulation has occurred?

A

T cells continue to bind to B memory cells. Causing more proliferation of B cells. Making more memory and plasma cells.
